Dr. Vasil V. Semeniaka is a Senior Research Fellow at the International Center for Space Law, Head of the Civil Law Division. He holds a Master degree in Private Law from the Yaroslav the Wise National Law Academy of Ukraine (1997) and PhD in Legal Sciences (Space Law) (2004).

He takes an active part in legal drafting, law making and provision of legal expertise. In addition to being a researcher, Dr. Semeniaka also acts as an attorney and drafts legal expert opinions. He co-authored a number of international and inter-agency agreements, drafted laws and regulations on space activities.

In particular, he took part in scientific and legal expertise on insurance issues deriving from the international space project " Globalstar " (1998, 2004), the Ukraine -Brasil project "Cyclone -4" (2005 ), in the disputed contractual situation in connection with the crash of the insured aircraft around the airport Asmara (Eritrea) (2002), was involved in provision of the expert opinions on the draft rules of space activity in Ukraine.

He teaches the course "Space Law" at the Faculty of Law of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Dr. Semeniaka is the author of almost 40 legal publications, including scientific and practical commentary to the Law of Ukraine On Space Activities (2005) (co-author), individual monograph "Insurance in the field of space activities: theoretical and legal fundamentals" (2007). He participated in different national and international conferences.
